Botaniq

The $40million Botaniq Development Begins

Construction has commenced on the “Gateway to the Gardens”: Botaniq.

Despite the current uncertainties relating to the COVID-19 pandemic, work on the Botaniq development has commenced on Adelaide’s city-fringe.

A modern overhaul of the iconic Hackney Hotel site, the major redevelopment will house a mix of apartments, townhouses, retail and hospitality spaces, as well as a state-of-the-art boutique hotel upon completion.

Located on Hackney Road, across from the beautiful Botanic Gardens, as a full-service residential development, Botaniq signifies a step into the future for the the Adelaide property market.

At the heart of Botaniq lies 27 architecturally-designed apartments, across three levels. Each apartment offers a selection of versatile one, two and three bedroom floorplans. Larger dwellings can be found at the Bertram Street townhouses. Each of the eight townhouses provides versatile three bedroom floorplans, each with two living areas.

Immediate priorities for the worksite include demolishing the currently standing Hackney Hotel, as well as fortfying the heritage aspects of the Hotel that date back to 1883. These features, visible from Hackney Road, will become an integral and bespoke feature of the 72-bedroom hotel once erected.

The $40-million redevelopment will see over 100 South Australian workers on site each day to bring the urban dwelling to life by 2021.

Project director Andrew O’Shea recently expressed his excitement about Botaniq to The Advertiser in April 2020.

“Demolition will begin in April and construction from July. We aim to complete by the end of 2021,” O’Shea told The Advertiser.

A consortium of investors and project managers will help bring Botaniq to life. One of South Australia’s leading construction companies Cook Building will bring the vision of Adelaide-based architects JPE Design to life.

Although the project is not due to be completed until 2021, 60 per cent of the residential dwellings are already under contract.
